
CHENNAI: The raids in the city of Chennai yielded a booty of over 10 lac rupees.The various raids conducted across the metro are given below:
In simultaneous rides in two shops at Kancheepuram, over 1860 MP3 CDs and 1381 pirated CDs were seized from 2 vendors. The cache was valued at 3.2 lac rupees.
1215 pirated CDs were seized from 2 shops in Burma Bazaar, Chennai on 4st October valued at Rs. 1.2 lakhs
Goods valued at 1.5 lac rupees including 8 CD Writers, 700 MP3 CDs, 394 pirated VCDs and 3000 inlay cards were seized from a vendor at T. Nagar and Alandur at Chennai.
550 MP3 CDs and 1650 pirated CDs were seized from 3 vendors and 2 shops in Kodungaiyur, Burma Bazaar and K.K. Nagar area of Chennai. The goods seized on 7th October have been valued at Rs. 2.2 lakhs
2.5-lac rupees worth of goods were seized from a shop and 2 vendors were arrested in Gummudipoondi area of Chennai. Goods seized included 2530 pirated CDs
1120 pirated CDs were seized from a shop at Kodambakkam, Chennai on 30th October
KERALA: The Honourable Home Minister of Kerala, Shri Kodiyeri Balakrishnan attended a meeting organized by the IMI, where he expressed his whole hearted support to the work done by the IMI task force and police officials in various states.
The Hon. Home Minister has also promised to introduce the Goonda Act in the state of Kerala. Such a step would go a long way in curbing the pirates and ensuring that they are brought to book with the most stringent punishment.
