Ludhiana - 273 MP3 CDs and 193 pirated VCDs were recovered from a shop called Bhatia & Company in Gurmandi, Ludhiana on 1st November.  Owner Pankaj Bhatia was arrested.

3 vendors were searched simultaneously near Bhadour House, Ludhiana on 15th November.  541 MP3 CDs and 760 pirated VCDs were seized.  3 persons Gona Kumar, Vinay Kumar and Bhanu Bhagat were arrested

911 MP3 CDs and 1157 pirated VCDs were recovered from a shop called Mahalaxmi Video in Bhadour House, Ludhiana on 27th November.  Owner Pawan Kumar was arrested

Majitha -  3 shops, Love Music Center, Lovely Studio and Dhami Studio were raided in Jandiala Guru, Dist. Majitha on 4th November.  750 MP3 CDs and 1016 pirated VCDs were seized.  Owners, Gurbax Singh, Tarsem Singh and Dharam Pal were arrested.

Amritsar -  Simultaneous raids were conducted on 3 shops in Rambagh, Amritsar on 7th November.  1340 MP3 CDs and 3684 pirated VCDs were seized.  3 persons, Bawa Kumar, Satinder Pal Singh and Sukhpal Singh were arrested.

Gurdaspur -  197 MP3 CDs and 1089 pirated VCDs were seized from the premises of Dashmesh TV Center in Qadian, Gurdaspur on 13th November.  Owner Paramjit Singh was arrested.

Muktsar -  A shop called Aman Video Lab was raided on Malout Road, Muktsar on 15th November.  350 MP3 CDs and 558 pirated VCDs were seized.  Owner Bittu Ram was arrested.

Barnala -  A supplier of pirated CDs was nabbed at Bus Stand at Barnala on 21st November.  402 MP3 CDs and 512 pirated VCDs were seized.  Accused Vijay Kumar was arrested.

Bhatinda -  235 MP3 CDs and 306 pirated VCDs were seized from the premises of Monga Video Lab in Bhatinda on 24th November.  Owner Anil Monga was arrested.

Patiala -  A shop called Music Cassettes was searched in Patiala on 26th November.  1042 pirated cassettes were seized.  Owner Jogindar Singh was arrested.

U.P.

Ghaziabad -  2 shops, Shiv Shakti Enterprises and Krishna Electronics were searched in Murad Nagar area of Ghaziabad on 11th November.  552 MP3 CDs and 5690 pirated VCDs were recovered.  2 persons, Sonu and Om Pal were arrested.

614 MP3 CDs and 200 pirated VCDs were seized from a vendor at Ghanta Ghar, Ghaziabad on 13th November.  2 persons Shanu and Abdul Qadir were arrested.

Lucknow -  397 MP3 CDs and 1282 pirated VCDs were seized from the premises of Rajesh Electronics in Lucknow on 12th November.  Owner Rajesh was arrested.

Meerut -  In an excellent raid Shop no. 217 in Jai Devi Nagar and Shop no. 425 in Shastri Nagar were searched in Meerut on 22nd November.  31 CD Writers, 10 DVD Writers, 2 Computers, 952 MP3 CDs, 3095 pirated VCDs and 15000 inlay cards were recovered.  2 persons, Sanjay Kumar and Arun were arrested.

Jaunpur -  286 MP3 CDs and 312 pirated VCDs were seized from a premises at Madiyahoon, Jaunpur on 29th November.  Owner Pappu Gupta a well known pirate in the area was arrested

Rampur -  A shop called Toni Electronics was searched in BP Colony, Rampur on 30th November.  306 pirated VCDs and 3000 inlay cards were seized.  Owner Ravindra Singh was arrested.

Agra -  In the suo motu anti-piracy operation conducted by the U.P. police 3 premises were raided in Agra on 15th August and 3rd October.  8 CD Writers and 7400 pirated CDs were recovered.  3 persons were arrested.

RAJASTHAN:

Jaipur - Acting on a tip off from the IMI team , on 27th October the Rajasthan Police conducted 4 raids in Jaipur in a residential premises. Another set of raids on shops included Sonia Enterprises on 25th September, Milan Music Center and Sargam CD Center on 3rd November. Altogether  8 CD Writers, an astounding 2020 MP3 CDs and 8869 pirated VCDs were seized.  4 persons, Santosh, Ajay Sahu, Ajai Choudhary and Om Prakash were arrested.

In yet another IMI anti-piracy operation conducted alongwith the Rajasthan police 10 premises were raided in Jawahar Nagar, Malviya Nagar, Bajaj Nagar, Jhotwara, Bagarumalan and Gandhi Nagar area in Jaipur on 7th and 8th November.  842 MP3 CDs and 3226 pirated VCDs were recovered.  10 persons were arrested.

2 suo motu raids were conducted by the Rajasthan police on Anjali Music Center and Rahmat Music Center in Kalmar, Jaipur on 10th November.  119 MP3 CDs and 360 pirated VCDs were seized.  Owners Rajkumar Meena and Rafiq were arrested.

2 shops, D Music Junction and Hari VCD Vision & Electronics were searched in Bagru, Jaipur on 12th and 13th November.  1081 MP3 CDs and 1380 pirated VCDs were seized.  Accused Nitesh Khandelwal, Hari Rama dn Chiranji Lal were arrested.

BIHAR :

Patna -  400 pirated CDs and 2000 inlay cards were seized from a premises in Malasalami, Patna on 6th November.  Owner Rousan Kumar was arrested.

In a daring IMI anti-piracy raid a CD recording unit was seized in Shastri Nagar area of Patna.  12 CD Writers, 2 Computers, 5000 inlay cards, 435 pirated VCDs were seized.  2 persons, Birendra Kumar Rai and Arvind Kumar Rai were arrested.

In a seize on a house-cum-godown in Dujra Chock, Patna conducted on 9th November, 14 CD Writers, 1 Computer, 694 pirated CDs and 1072 inlay cards were seized.  2 persons Sani Kumar and Niranjay Kumar were arrested.

Nalanda -  In a raid on a shop called Maa Durga Electronics and a godown was searched in Nalanda, Bihar on 17th November.  3800 MP3 CDs, 5000 blank CDRs, 22050 pirated VCDs and 10000 inlay cards were recovered.  Owner Vikas Kumar was arrested.

MAHARASHTRA (Mumbai):

A surprising fall of piracy in the commercial capital of the country aamchi Mumbai!!!

Mumbai -  132 pirated VCDs and MP3 CDs were seized from a vendor at the Marine Line Foot Bridge on 8th November.  Accused Nijam Khan was arrested.

170 MP3 CDs and 614 pirated VCDs were recovered from a vendor at Naygaon Cross Road, Dadar, Mumbai on 15th November.  Owner Devdas Chaugule was arrested.

GUJARATH :

Ahmedabad -  2 vendors were raided in Ahmedabad on 1st and 4th November.  113 MP3 CDs and 432 pirated VCDs were seized.  2 persons Kishorbhai Shah and Shah Nawajkhan Pathan were arrested.  (Seizure includes 170 VCDs of Warner titles).

7 vendors were raided in Lal Darwaza area of Ahmedabad on 16th November.  1409 MP3 CDs and 11370 pirated VCDs were seized.  7 persons were arrested.  (Seizure includes 2800 VCDs of Warner titles).

M.P.:

Indore -  A shop called Ishwar Cassettes on Maharani Road, Indore was searched on 27th November.  965 MP3 CDs and 2838 pirated VCDs were seized.  Owner Ishwar Jethani was arrested and remanded to 14 days judicial custody.

Bhopal -  338 MP3 CDs and 5140 pirated VCDs were recovered from a shop called Ruby Electronics Collection in Ashok Nagar, Bhopal on 11th November.  Owner Abdul Aziz was arrested.

WEST BENGAL :

Kolkata -  A vendor was searched in A.J.U.C. Bose Road, Kolkata on 3rd November.  859 MP3 CDs and 260 pirated VCDs were seized.  2 persons, Shaikh Kutub and Moni Khan were arrested.

475 MP3 CDs and 672 pirated VCDs were recovered from a vendor at Narkeldanga Road, Kolkata on 6th November.  Owner Mohd. Azhar was arrested.

In a raid conducted on a vendor in Hazra Road, 365 MP3 CDs and 790 pirated VCDs were seized.  Owner Raju Moni was arrested.

222 MP3 CDs and 250 pirated VCDs were seized from a vendor in Maniktala Road on 10th November.  Owner Uttam Das was arrested.

Dist. Burdwan -  A shop called Uttam Variety Stores was raided in Asansole, Distr. Burdwan on 23rd November.  2517 MP3 CDs and 4772 pirated VCDs were seized.  Owner Uttam Mahajan was arrested.

Anoother raid conducted in Asansole, Dist. Burdwan on 8th November, on a shop called Music Center and a vendor yielded 3158 MP3 CDs and 5505 pirated VCDs. Owner Imtiaz Khan was arrested.

316 MP3 CDs and 2115 pirated VCDs were recovered from 2 vendors in Durgapore on 9th November.  2 persons were arrested.

NORTH EAST :

Dist. Kamrup, Assam :-  73 pirated VCDs were seized from a shop at Panitema, Dist. Kamrup on 15th November.  Owner Phulon Kalita was arrested.

KERALA: In Kerala , the widespread abuse of pirated MP3s and VCDs has also caught the attention of law. In a raid conducted by Kerala police on a shop called Raja Video Shop over 840 MP3 CDs and 68 pirated VCDs were seized and an immediate arrest was made.

Three arrests were made at residential premise and shops in Kottayam, Kerala. 3650 MP3 CDs and 127 pirated VCDs were seized.

In IMI raids on 2 residential premises in Kannur Town, One of the biggest hauls in Kerala added another feather in the cap of IMI. The Seizure included  8830 pirated audio CDs and 1000 pirated VCDs . 2 persons were arrested. Another raid on 2 shops later in the week resulted in a cache of 6500 pirated CDs and 1800 pirated VCDs.  2 persons were arrested.

In a raid conducted by the IMI alongwith the Kerala Police on a premises in Trivandrum City, more than 50,000 pirated Cd's, Computers, CD Writers and inlay cards were seized. 2 persons were arrested and remanded to 14 days judicial custody.

KARNATAKA: In Bangalore, the garden city, two shops - Dubai Cassette Shop and Sagar Video were searched and a cache of  540 MP3 CDs and 550 pirated VCDs were seized which included over 100 VCDs of Warner titles . The two owners, Syed Moosa and Mohd. Tazuddin were arrested immediately.

150 MP3 CDs and 640 pirated VCDs were recovered from a vendor at Shivajinagar, Bangalore on 14th November.  1 person, Imran was arrested.

Andhra: A shop called Mythili Internet Center was searched in Saibabad, Hyderabad on 20 th September.  1 Computer/CD Writer and 5 MP3 CDs were seized and the owner was arrested.

Simultaneous raids conducted on 2 vendors in Gulzar House area of Hyderabad on 24 th September yielded  110 MP3 CDs and 33 pirated VCDs . The owners of the shop were arrested on the spot.

In a raid conducted on Teja Cyber Net Erragadda area of Hyderabad , 1 Computer/CD Writer and 10 pirated CDs were seized and the owner arrested. 

A shop called Anand Cassettes & CDs was searched in Baghlingampally area of Hyderabad on 8th November.  35 MP3 CDs and 24 pirated cassettes, 8 VCDs and 1 recording deck were seized.  Owner G. Venkatachandrasekhar was arrested.

40 MP3 CDs and 46 pirated VCDs were recovered from the premises of shop called Lucky Music Point at Himmatpura, Hyderabad on 21st November.  Owner Babar Bin Yousuf was arrested.

TAMIL NADU:

Chennai -  2 shops, Balaji Musicals and Murugan Electronics were raided in Poonthamallee and Ponneri area of Chennai on 1st November.  625 MP3 CDs and 620 pirated VCDs were seized.  Owner Sasikumar and Murugasan were arrested and remanded to 15 days judicial custody.  (Seizure includes 273 VCDs of Warner titles).

375 MP3 CDs and 327 pirated VCDs were seized from a vendor in Ambattur, Chennai on 2nd November.  Accused Kadhar Ninar was arrested and remanded to 15 days judicial custody.  (Seizure includes 110 pirated VCDs of Warner titles).

350 MP3 CDs and 351 pirated VCDs were seized from a vendor at Ambattur Bus Stand on 3rd November.  Owner Murugan was arrested and remanded to 15 days judicial custody.  (Seizure includes 110 VCDs of Warner titles).

2 vendors in Nanthanam and Wallajapath area of Chennai were searched on 5th November.  560 MP3 CDs and 1070 pirated VCDs were seized.  Accused Kaja Mohideen and Lakshmanan were arrested and remanded to 15 days judicial custody.  (Seizure includes 520 VCDs of Warner titles).

2 shops, Deena Audio and Circuit City and a vendor were searched in Mount Road, Adyar and Vellacherry area of Chennai on 6th November.  930 MP3 CDs and 1040 pirated VCDs were seized.  3 persons were arrested and remanded to 15 days judicial custody.  (Seizure includes 420 VCDs of Warner titles).

1225 MP3 CDs and 941 pirated VCDs were seized from the premises of Sri Nathan Travels & Musicals, Singapore World and a shop in Arumbakkam and Anna Nagar area of Chennai on 10th November.  3 persons were arrested and remanded to 15 days judicial custody.  (Seizure includes 565 VCDs of Warner titles).

500 pirated VCDs and 550 pirated cassettes were recovered from a vendor near Park Rly. Stn. on 18th November.  Owner Muthu was arrested and remanded to 15 days judicial custody.  (Seizure includes 500 VCDs of Warner titles).

4 CD Writers, 2 Computers, 550 MP3 CDs and 186 pirated CDs were seized from the premises of Ragam Musicals in Ashok Nagar, Chennai on 20th November.  Owner Ananthan was arrested and remanded to 15 days judicial custody.

340 MP3 CDs and 497 pirated VCDs were seized from Indira Audio & Video in Perungalathur, Chennai on 20th November.  Owner Alexpandian was arrested and remanded to 15 days judicial custody.  (Seizure includes 176 VCDs of Warner titles).

410 MP3 CDs and 400 pirated VCDs were seized from Hannesh Shopping Center in China Bazaar, Chennai on 25th November.  Owner Syed Ibrahim was arrested and remanded to 15 days judicial custody.  (Seizure includes 250 VCDs of Warner titles).

2 shops, Besant Videos and Jeya Videos were searched in Besant Nagar and Kasduribai Nagar, Chennai on 27th November.  350 MP3 CDs and 2075 pirated VCDs were recovered.  3 persons, Balamurugan, Selvamurugan and Radhakrishnan were arresred and remanded to 15 days judicial custody.  (Seizure includes 1800 VCDs of Warner titles).

A shop calld Moosa Video and 2 vendors in Perambur, Chennai were raided on 14th November.  1120 MP3 CDs and 605 pirated VCDs were seized.  3 persons were arrested and remanded to 15 days judicial custody.  (Seizure includes 390 VCDs of Warner titles).

Coimbatore -  In a suo motu raid conducted by the T.N. police in Coimbatore on 2nd November, 1 Computer/CD Writer, 250 MP3 CDs and 142 pirated VCDs were seized.  Accused Jakir Hussain was arrested and remanded to 15 days judicial custody.

3 suo motu raids were conducted by the T.N. police in Coimbatore during the month.  1 Computer/CD Writer, 693 MP3 CDs and 190 pirated VCDs were seized.  3 persons were arrested.

Madurai -  6 suo motu raids were conducted by T.N. police in Madurai.  1296 MP3 CDs and 1709 pirated CDs and VCDs were recovered.  6 persons were arrested.

Dist. Kancheepuram -  425 MP3 CDs and 364 pirated VCDs were seized from a vendor in Wallajapath, Dist. Kancheepuram on 6th November.  Owner Saravanan was arrested and remanded to 15 days judicial custody.  (Seizure includes 126 VCDs of Warner titles).

Erode -  1 Computer/CD Writer and 292 MP3 CDs were seized from ‘Music Games’ in a suo motu raid conducted by the T.N. police in Periar Nagr, Egmore on 13th November.  1 person S. Chidambaram was arrested and remanded to 15 days judicial custody.

Dist. Thiruvallur -  In a raid conducted in Dist. Thiruvallur on 15th November, 840 MP3 CDs and 548 pirated VCDs were seized.  Owner, Mohideen and Arul were arrested and remanded to 15 days judicial custody.  (Seizure includes 120 VCDs of Warner titles).

A shop called Sri Cable Network was raided in Uthukottai, Dist. Thiruvallur on 16th November.  97 pirated VCDs and other material were seized.  Owner Anandrav was arrested and remanded to 15 days judicial custody.

Dist. Villupuram -  Simultaneous raids were conducted on 3 shops, Chandru Musicals, Mahalakshmi Audio and E.L.F. Musicals in Kallakurichi area of Dist. Villupuram on 24th November.  5152 MP3 CDs and 2738 pirated VCDs were seized.  3 persons, Murugan, Periyasamy and Vadivel were arrested and remanded to 15 days judicial custody.  (Seizure includes 1425 VCDs of Warner titles).

Trichy -  1194 MP3 CDs and 2519 pirated CDs and VCDs were recovered in 9 suo motu raid conducted by the T.N. police in Trichy during the month.  9 persons were arrested.

Dindigul -  In an anti-piracy operation conducted by the T.N. police in Dindigul, 6 suo motu raids were conducted.  1228 MP3 CDs and 793 pirated VCDs were seized.  6 persons were arrested.

Tinnevelly -  During the month 5 suo motu raids were conducted by the T.N. police in Tinnevelly.  1310 MP3 CDs and 1090 pirated VCDs were seized.  5 persons were arrested.

Big Raids In Small Towns

Pune :-  In an excellent raid conducted on a godown at Deccan Gymkhana, Pune on 23rd November.  1940 MP3 CDs and 3060 pirated VCDs were seized.  Owner Ganesh Pawar was arrested.  (Seizure includes 1950 VCDs of Warner titles).

Bahadurabad, Uttarnchal :-  2 shops, Nitin Electronics and Love Music were searched in dist. Haridwar on 28th November.  136 MP3 CDs and 632 pirated VCDs were seized.  Owners Vipin Kumar and Gulshan were arrested

Consolidation:

The next date for hearing for consolidation of cases in Mumbai has been fixed for the 16th December '06.
