UTTAR PRADESH :

Meerut, U.P. :-  In a raid conducted at a residential premises in Sarai Jeenat, Meerut on 7th August.  275 MP3 CDs, 1200 blank CDRs, 1050 pirated VCDs and 4200 inlay cards were seized.  Owner Sabbal was arrested.  (Value appx. 2.5 lakhs).

A shop called Prachi CD Center was raided in Nehru Nagar, Meerut on 8th August.  145 MP3 CDs and 837 pirated VCDs were seized.  Owner Manish Saraswat was arrested.  (Value appx. 1 lakh).

Dist. Sitapur, U.P. :-  61 MP3 CDs and 1795 pirated VCDs were seized from a shop called Punjab CD House in Mahmoodabad Road, Biswan, Dist. Sitapur on 10th August.  Owner Raju Sardar was arrested.  (Value appx. 1.8 lakhs)

PUNJAB :

Dist. Hoshiarpur, Punjab :-  A supplier of pirated CDs was nabbed at G.T. Road, Dasuya, Dist. Hoshiarpur on 5th August.  195 MP3 CDs, 541 pirated VCDs and 343 pirated DVDs were seized.  Owner Vinod Kumar was arrested.  (Value appx. 1 lakh).

Chandigarh, Punjab :-  390 MP3 CDs and 608 pirated DVDs were seized from the premises of Music Thirty Four in Sector 34, Chandigarh on 17th August.  Owner Yash Pal was arrested.  (Value appx. 1 lakh).

Ludhiana, Punjab :-  2 premises were searched in Bhadour House area of Punjab on 21st August.  288 MP3 CDs, 333 pirated VCDs and 712 pirated DVDs were seized.  2 persons were arrested.  (Value appx. 1.3 lakhs).

BIHAR :

Patna, Bihar :-  In an excellent raid 3 shops/godowns were searched in a massive anti-piracy operation in Patna on 7th August.  8 CD Writers, 29000 MP3 CDs, 38000 pirated VCDs, 545 pirated DVDs and 153000 inlay cards were seized.  5 persons were arrested.  (Value appx. 68 lakhs).

 

M.P.:

Bhopal, M.P. :-  2 shops, Vishal Music Center and Max Video were searched in Itwara Road, Bhopal on 31st August.  1001 MP3 CDs, 7413 pirated VCDs and 3500 pirated DVDs were seized.  2 persons, Abrar and Javed were arrested. (Value app 11 Lakhs)

WEST BENGAL :

Kolkata, W.B. :-  632 MP3 CDs, 14 pirated VCDs and 520 pirated DVDs were seized from a vendor at  BBD Bag, Kolkata on 17th August.  1 person Mohd. Sunny was arrested. (Value appx. 1.1 lakhs).

Kolkata, W.B. :-  1015 MP3 CDs were seized from a vendor at Ezra Street, Kolkata on 18th August.  1 person, Shaikh Riazuddin was arrested.  (Value appx. 1 lakh).

Howrah, W.B. :-  In a raid conducted on a shop called Cyber Arcade in Howrah on 20th August, 360 MP3 CDs, 805 pirated VCDs and 195 pirated DVDs were seized.  Owner Sourav Dhara was arrested.  (Value appx. 1.3 lakhs).

Dist. Sealdah, W.B. :-  1309 MP3 CDs, 2920 pirated VCDs and 365 pirated DVDs were seized from a vendor at Agarpara Rly. Station, Dist. Sealdah on 24th August.  Owner Biswajit Sarkar was arrested. (Value appx. 4.6 lakhs).

Jalpaiguri, W.B. :-  A shop called Chayachabi Loke Nath Video was searched in Ghumti, Jalpaiguri on 29th August.  250 MP3 CDs, 700 pirated VCDs and 500 pirated DVDs were seized.  Owner Bani Das was arrested.  (Value appx. 1.4 lakhs).

Dist. Burdwan, W.B. :-  In a raid conducted at Rahul Electronics in Dist. Burdwan on 30th August, 1130 MP3 CDs and 3528 pirated VCDs were seized.  Owner Ajit Singh was arrested.  (Value appx. 4.6 lakhs).

Dist. Bankura, W.B. :-  356 MP3 CDs and 1867 pirated VCDs were seized from the premises of Munu Electronics and Rim Jhim Recording Center in Khatra bazaar and Rasikpur area of Dist. Bankura on 31st August.  Owner Uttam Dey was arrested.  (Value appx. 2.2 lakhs).

NORTH EAST

Guwahati, N.E. :-  201 MP3 CDs, 310 pirated VCDs and 407 pirated DVDs were seized from a C.D. Shop, Kali Mandir Road, Guwahati on 21st August.  Owner Pinku Gogoi was arrested.

A shop called Raktim Electronics was searched in Berabari, Guwahati on 28th August.  445 MP3 CDs and 235 pirated VCDs were seized.  Owner Rajes Rava was arrested.

KARNATAKA :

Bangalore, Karnataka :-  69 MP3 CDs and 1100 pirated DVDs were seized from a vendor at Rajajinagar, Bangalore on 9th August.  2 persons, Shivaraj and Ashif were arrested.  (Value appx. 1.1 lakhs).

Bangalore, Karnataka :-  125 MP3 CDs, 55 pirated VCDs and 1155 pirated DVDs were seized from a vendor at K.R. Puram, Bangalore on 28th August.  Owner Senthil Kumar was arrested.  (Value appx. 1.3 lakhs).

Bangalore, Karnataka :-  A vendor was searched at Avenue Road, Bangalore on 30th August.  15 MP3 CDs and 1140 pirated DVDs were seized.  Owner Manjunath was arrested.  (Value appx. 1.1 lakhs).

 

Andhra:

Dist. Nellore, A.P. :-  A shop and 4 vendors were simultaneously raided in Trunk Road, Dist. Nellore on 19th August.  3314 pirated DVDs/MP3 CDs were seized.  5 persons were arrested. (Value appx. 3.3 lakhs).

TAMIL NADU:

Chennai: 

3 vendors were searched in Thiruvanamiyur and Koyambadu, Chennai on 4th August.  560 MP3 CDs and 1235 pirated DVDs were seized.  3 persons, Kajali, Sarathi and Ayathi were arrested and remanded to 15 days judicial custody.  (Value appx. 1.8 lakhs).

A shop called Chennai Electronics and a vendor were searched in Virugambakkam area of Chennai on 11th August.  355 MP3 CDs and 849 pirated DVDs were seized.  Owner Murugan and Shasunlal were arrested and remanded to 15 days judicial custody.  (Value appx. 1.2 lakhs).

3 vendors were searched in Sholinganallur area of Chennai on 12th August.  725 MP3 CDs and 1090 pirated DVDs were seized.  3 persons, Nagaraj, Nagarkani and Vsam were arrested and remanded to 15 days judicial custody.  (Value appx. 1.8 lakhs).

637 MP3 CDs and 1183 pirated DVDs were seized from 3 vendors in a raid conducted at Koyambadu area of Chennai on 13th August.  3 persons, Ganeshan, Maharaj and Mohideen were arrested and remanded to 15 days judicial cusody.  (Value appx. 1.8 lakhs).

Shop nos. 52 and 58 were searched in Anna Nagar, Chennai on 17th August.  400 MP3 CDs, 100 pirated VCDs and 725 pirated DVDs were seized.  Owners Sakar and Anandan were arrested and remanded to 15 days judicial custody.  (Value appx. 1.2 lakhs).

2 shops, nos. 229 and 240 were searched in Burma Bazaar area of Chennai on 19th August.  250 MP3 CDs and 1450 pirated DVDs were seized.  2 persons, Malaithirasau and Arul Raja were arrested and remanded to 15 days judicial custody.  (Value appx. 1.7 lakhs).

Simultaneous raids were conducted on 6 vendors at Ambattur, Burma Bazaar, Kodambakkam, Kandhansavadi and Nungambakkam area of Chennai on 22nd August.  786 MP3 CDs and 2644 pirated DVDs were seized.  6 persons were arrested and remanded to 15 days judicial custody.  (Value appx. 3.4 lakhs).

A CD recording unit was seized in an excellent raid conducted at Vyasarpadi, Chennai on 23rd August.  48 CD Writers, 1300 MP3 CDs, 2488 pirated DVDs and 500 inlay cards were seized.  Owner A. Rahim was arrested and remanded to 15 days judicial custody.  (Value appx. 4 lakhs).

A CD Recording unit was seized from a unit at Selaivur, Chennai on 28th August.  690 MP3 CDs, 16 CD Writers, 1152 pirated DVDs and 4000 inlay cards were seized.  3 persons, Abdul Rahuman, Mujibur Rahuman and Ramesh were arrested and remanded to 15 days judicial custody.  (Value appx. 2 lakhs).

A shop called Game World and a vendor was searched in Vysarpadi and Ayanavaram area of Chennai on 28th August.  350 MP3 CDs and 725 pirated DVDs were seized.  2 persons, Martin and Thanveer Alam were arrested and remanded to 15 days judicial custody.  (Value appx. 1 lakh).

Vellore. :-  The T.N. police conducted 15 suo motu raids in Vellore in August.  757 MP3 CDs, 1756 pirated DVDs and 1673 pirated VCDs were seized.  15 persons were arrested and remanded to 15 days judicial custody.

Salem :-  2167 pirated DVDs, 69 MP3 CDs and 212 pirated VCDs were seized in 15 suo motu raids conducted by the T.N. police in Salem during the month.  15 persons were arrested and remanded to 15 days judicial custody.

Cuddalore :-  10 suo motu raids were conducted in Cuddalore during the month.  1360 MP3 CDs, 146 pirated DVDs and 482 pirated VCDs were seized.  10 persons were arrested and remanded to 15 days judicial custody.

Madurai :-  17 suo mutu raids were conducted by T.N. police in Madurai in August.  2485 MP3 CDs, 528 pirated VCDs and 1492 pirated DVDs were seized.  17 persons were arrested and remanded to 15 days judicial custody.

Dindigul :-  1641 MP3 CDs, 391 pirated VCDs and 1213 pirated DVDs were seized in 14 raids conducted by the T.N. police in Dindigul in August.  14 persons were arrested and remanded to 15 days judicial custody.

Coimbatore :-  The T.N. police conducted 21 suo motu raids in Coimbatore during the month.  1737 MP3 CDs, 720 pirated VCDs and 946 pirated DVDs were seized.  21 persons were arrested and remanded to 15 days judicial custody.

Trichy :-  21 suo motu raids were conducted by the T.N. police in Trichy in August.  3382 MP3 CDs, 890 pirated VCDs and 2162 pirated DVDs were seized.  21 persons were arrested and remanded to 15 days judicial custody.

Triunelveli :-  In the 9 suo motu raids conducted by the T.N. police in Triunelveli during the month, 864 MP3 CDs, 175 pirated VCDs and 334 pirated DVDs were seized.  9 persons were arrested and remanded to 15 days judicial custody.
